Update to burglaries in Residence Halls

On 01/21/2013 it was reported to the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management that two burglaries had occurred, and on 01/22/2013 five additional burglaries were reported. Since then, four more burglaries have been reported:

All members of the campus community are reminded to always lock their room or apartment doors and windows and immediately report suspicious activity to the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management.  The public is encouraged to report any crimes of a similar nature to Public Safety at (607) 274-3333.

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092 (f)], otherwise known as the “Clery Act,” the College is required to provide the campus community timely warning of certain crimes and other conditions that pose a serious or ongoing threat to life and safety. The College meets this notification requirement through the issuance of a “Public Safety Alert” intended to aid in the prevention of similar crimes and provide cautionary measures for the campus community. Clery crimes are as follows: aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder and non-negligent homicide, robbery, sexual offenses (forcible and non-forcible), motor vehicle theft, and hate crimes (in accordance with Clery reporting categories for prejudice).
