Professor and Graduate Program Chair
The Department of Sport Management and Media prepares graduate students for a variety of positions in the sport industry. The department's goal is to create a collaborative and nurturing learning environment for analyzing and resolving challenges in the business and culture of sport. With this strong foundation, graduates are ready to assume leadership positions in the field.
Featuring both thesis and internship options, the master of science degree program in sport management allows students to match their learning experiences to individual academic strengths and career plans. In addition, a small student body and knowledgeable, mentoring faculty facilitate program individualization, as does the opportunity to pursue independent study and professional internships.
Coursework emphasizes strategies for managing and marketing sport enterprises as well as economic and financial applications of sport. Additional attention is also devoted to the cultural, ethical, legal, political, and social underpinnings that serve as the foundation on which sport is based in the United States and around the world.
