|Renee L. Metzger|
|Dean's award in Clinical Health Studies/Physical Therapy|
Renee was born and raised in a suburb of Rochester, called Fairport, New York. She has been interested in anatomy since learning about muscles in fourth grade and has wanted to become a physical therapist since middle school. Renee was first attracted to Ithaca College because of its prestigious physical therapy program and decided to attend after seeing the campus and community. In addition to studying PT, she has completed the requirements for the IC Honors Program and a minor Mathematics.
Renee has enjoyed many opportunities at Ithaca College, including playing varsity basketball, working for the intramural department, participating in volunteer work, and studying abroad in Ecuador to help communities build adaptive devices for people with disabilities. Her drive to help people precipitated her involvement in Ithaca College’s Habitat for Humanity Club. Renee has gone on multiple week-long winter break trips to help build homes for needy families. She continued on to become the volunteer coordinator for the club, organizing Saturday build trips locally in Trumansburg and Corning. She loves building but loves helping people even more. This desire to serve others has fueled her goal to enter neurological physical therapy upon graduation in order to help people recover from neurological injuries or function with long-term neurological conditions.
