|Graduate Professional Excellence Award in Physical Therapy|
After playing sports year-round and witnessing countless injuries, I knew I wanted a career in Physical Therapy and so my college quest began. When my mom asked, “what about Ithaca College,” my response was, “I’ve never even heard of that!” Little did I know, but it would only take one trip from New Jersey to realize that this would be the first of many, many road trips to Ithaca. In that one visit to IC, my college search ended. I enrolled in the PT program, earned a spot on the Women’s Volleyball Team, and declared a music minor in piano.
Looking back six years later, I would have to say that finding my PT family has been, by far, my most memorable experience at IC. It started the summer after junior year when we packed up and moved to Rochester to complete our human anatomy coursework. I began that unforgettable summer with just a handful of good friends and ended it with an entire family. In the three years since, we have only grown closer as we have lived and breathed PT together. I have also been fortunate to expand my PT family with the students I have met from around the country at various APTA conferences.
