|Professional Excellence Award in Clinical Health Studies/Physical Therapy|
Attending college in New York after living in Austin, Texas was quite a change for me. When I applied to Ithaca College, I had almost no prior knowledge about the school, but after attending the Ithaca Today event, I knew I had found the perfect place to spend the next six years. During high school, my passion for science and health care really took hold on my future. I looked into various health professions and came to the realization that physical therapy was the career for me. I wanted to be able to continually work with people recovering from injuries, both big and small, to a point where they were returning to the life they enjoyed.
Spending the summer after my junior year at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester was by far the most rewarding and memorable part of my Ithaca College undergraduate career. Prior to this experience, I did not really know many of my classmates and had spent most of my time doing pre-requisites and completing my anthropology minor. During the summer, I studied harder than I ever had, experienced a cadaver study, and formed friendships that I plan to keep forever.
