Freshman entry and guaranteed eligibility for the DPT curriculum (i.e. no graduate application is needed provided academic requirements are met)
The D. P. T. degree will be fulfilled in six total years for freshman entry (for B. S. and D. P. T. Degrees). Students entering as freshman with appropriate AP and Transfer credits may request to complete the DPT program in as little as five years. Transfer students are welcome (space permitting) and the D. P. T. can be earned in as few as three years for students with a B. S. degree.
IC has a small college feel, but has a university’s range of academic and extracurricular opportunities.
A small (college) town location -- Ithaca is readily accessible to the major northeast metropolitan areas (e.g., 4 hours’ drive to New York City and Philadelphia, and 6-7.5 hours to Boston, Pittsburgh, or Washington).
Nineteen full-time PT Department faculty who are all physical therapists and have become content experts in a wide range of academic and clinical disciplines. The PT faculty as a group have an average of over 13 years of teaching experience, and over 12 years at IC.
The IC pass rate for PT national licensing exam in 2008 (as of January 2009) was againone of the best in the country at98% (compare to NYS at 79% and nationally at 89%).See the PT licensing exam pass rates history.
