Awarded annually through an application and selection process to a rising senior in the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. The recipient will be selected on the basis of academic merit; demonstration of financial need is not required. The Koch scholars must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and provide evidence of scholarship activity in professional organizations and / or academic research in areas relating to exercise and sport sciences. Established in memory Dean William B. Koch by family and friends.

The Plus One Scholarship is sponsored by Plus One Holdings, Inc. and offered to a junior or senior majoring in the exercise sciences (Athletic Training, Exercise Science or Fitness and Cardiac Rehabilitation) or in a degree program in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education. Eligible students must have full-time status, demonstrate financial need, be in good academic standing, have upper class status, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.80, and be recommended to the Dean by their department chair. Students recommended for the Plus One Scholarship will be required to complete a resume and submit a letter describing their career goals and commitment to the health and well-being of others. The Plus One Scholarship will be offered on a one-year basis to the selected recipient.
