Contributed by Laura T. Murphy

Kevin Bales is a leading expert on modern slavery and human trafficking. He will speak on Monday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m. in Textor 101.

In his book, Disposable People, Bales introduced the world to the issue of slavery and the 27 million people still enslaved in the world today. Bales' new book, Ending Slavery explains how we can eradicate slavery. Forever.

For over 13 years, Bales has traveled the world researching slavery, consulting with governments, and interviewing former slaves and slave holders. He is president of Free the Slaves, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the abolition of modern day slavery.
