Residential Life will pay l00% of the travel expenses to and from Ithaca for a scheduled candidate interview, plus all expenses for meals and lodging while a candidate is interviewing.

  • Each RD will be assigned a mentor from our management team or Student Affairs to focus on individual professional development using the National Housing Institute's competency model and goal setting.
  • the expectation and opportunity to serve as a chair and as a member of department-wide committees and task forces, (e.g., RA Training and Leadership Development, Professional Staff Development, Recognition).
  • the opportunity to serve as a member of Student Affairs, Institutional and Campus Life Division Committees.
  • the opportunity to participate in an auxiliary work experience (not available to first-year employees) in another Student Affairs office (e.g., Counseling Center, Center for Student Leadership and Involvement).
  • an extensive professional development program both within the Department and at the division level.
  • available resources to attend professional development conferences.
  • the availability of Professional Development funds.
  • Tuition for up to 8 credits per semester waived with supervisor approval.
  • the expectation and opportunity for required summer employment in one of the following areas: Orientation, Room Assignments, Summer Operations or Staff Development.
  • the opportunity to supervise a student Office Assistant (budgeted hours vary by residence area).
  • the opportunity to advise the Residence Hall Association.
  • the opportunity to manage the operation of a Satellite office, including supervision of student Office Assistant staff.
