Students found in the residence halls and/or apartments after the advertised closing time and/or before the advertised opening time who have not received prior approval are subject to immediate removal from the building, judicial action, and a $100.00 fine. Similarly, students who fail to check out of their rooms by the advertised check-out time without prior approval are subject to judicial action and a $100.00 fine.

  • If you are a resident¹ of the Circle or Garden apartments, you may remain there over a break only if you complete a Break Occupancy Form to inform the Office of Residential Life of your intentions.
  • If you are a resident¹ of Terrace 03, you may remain there over Thanksgiving break, Spring break, and for all but the one week of Winter break that the college is closed only if you complete a Break Occupancy Form to inform the Office of Residential Life of your intentions.
  • If you are a current student and not a resident as above, and plan to remain on campus during a break, you must be listed on a Break Occupancy Form for a room and hall that will remain open during the break period, and be approved to reside in that space by the Office of Residential Life for the period requested.

Approximately 1-2 weeks prior to each break, all on-campus residents will receive a Break Closing Notice that will detail the specific closing procedures and requirements for the upcoming break. Break Occupany Forms are due by 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the published closing date of each break.

¹ For Winter Break, a resident is a student who will retain the same room assignment during the Spring semester as they had at the end of the Fall semester..


All residence halls except for the Circle and Garden Apartments, and Terrace 03, are closed during Thanksgiving and Spring break. All residence halls except for the Circle and Garden Apartments are closed during Winter break. If you live in a closed residence hall, you must vacate your room for the duration of these breaks!

All rooms, apartments, and suites will be inspected by staff during breaks to ensure compliance with closing procedures, health and safety regulations, and Residential Life rules and regulations. Violators are subject to judicial action.
