RESIDENTIAL LIFE GUIDE
room change procedures

Many campus residents have one or more roommates, and most find their roommate situations to be very positive. If there is a problem with a roommate, speaking to him or her about it will often resolve the particular concern. Because there are limited vacancies in campus housing, we ask that residents attempt to resolve roommate differences before we consider a room change. Residential Life staff members are available to assist students with problem solving.

If a room change is desired or becomes necessary for any reason, there are three options available to students: Vacancy form (new students will not be offered this option until all other new students are out of temporary housing), One-to-one room change; Wait List application(s) for single, double and standard triple rooms, Emerson Hall, Terrace Suites, and the Garden and Circle Apartments.

SPECIAL NOTICE: The Office of Residential Life reserves the right to suspend these processes as demand for campus housing dictates.

All room changes and sublets made without prior approval of the Office of Residential Life are subject to judicial action. Similarly, moving into a vacancy without permission from the Office of Residential Life can result in disciplinary action. It is vitally important for your safety and well-being that Ithaca College's records accurately reflect where you reside on campus.

Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a traditional room to a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment will need to contact the Bursar's office if they intend to continue their current meal plan. Students who move (or are directly reassigned) from a Circle Apartment, Garden Apartment, or Quad Apartment to a traditional room are automatically assigned to a standard meal plan which will be billed to their student account.

Moving from one bedroom to another within an Circle apartment without approval of the Office of Residential Life is considered an unauthorized room change and subject to judicial action.
