|Vision and Hearing Care|
The Individual Choice vision and hearing care plan option provides comprehensive coverage for vision and hearing care. You may use your College benefit credits and/or before-tax dollars to enroll yourself and any eligible dependents in the Ithaca College vision & hearing care plan.
Good vision and hearing are an important part of overall health and well-being. Having access to affordable vision and hearing care increases the likelihood that you and your family will receive ongoing routine care which can improve productivity, safety, and quality of life.
Regular eye exams can lead to early detection of major health conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Eye diseases often have no warning symptoms, so many people do not realize they are at risk for impaired vision or blindness according to organizations including the National Eye Institute and Preventive Blindness America.
The vision care plan provides coverage for annual eye exams, eye glass lenses, frames and contact lenses. Hearing care plan benefits include hearing exams, hearing aid and hearing aid maintenance.
Beginning January 1, 2013, the College’s vision coverage will be switched to Davis Vision. First Ameritas will continue to administer the hearing care benefit through SoundCare.
You will still have two ID cards for the Vision and Hearing Care Plan. Effective with the new year, you will have a Davis Vision ID card for your vision plan benefits and a SoundCare ID card from First Ameritas for the hearing care plan.
Davis Vision benefits are easy to use. Members can access care through the Davis Vision network of independent, private practice doctors (optometrists and opthamologists) or select retail partners such as Empire Vision, Walmart or Sterling Optical.
