Viewing Payslip Information in Employee Self-Service

Scope
This procedure covers the use of Employee Self-Service to view an employee’s own payslip information.
Policy
Employee Self-Service will display at maximum a payroll history back to the first pay received in 2005. Employees who need additional payroll history must contact the Payroll Office [payroll@ithaca.edu].

The Human Resources Information Systems Manager [mlewkowicz@ithaca.edu] is responsible for ensuring that this document is necessary and that it reflects actual practice.
Activity Preface
This activity is performed whenever an employee would like to review the amount of their payslip and the details that relate to it.
Note: usually, an employee can view the most recent payslip information 1 or 2 days prior to the paydate. This is generally true, but not always.
The job title Employee refers to:
- Employee Self-Service User
1. Access Employee Self-Service
Refer to Accessing Employee Self-Service [NAVHRI01]
2. Select “Payslip Information”

3. View your most recent pay information.
The Payslip Information page defaults your most current payslip.
This is the format that all your payslips will follow. The information is conveniently organized by category of distribution. View the payslip information by section as follows.
- View the name, email address, and Employee ID number.
- View the Employee Details
This includes SSN, Date of Hire, address, etc.

- View the Payslip dates.

The Pay Begin and Pay End Dates are the dates of the beginning and end of the pay period. The Payment Date is the date on which your check is paid to you. The Pay Period describes your payment schedule: Bi-Weekly for Non-Exempt and Semi-Month for Exempt employees.
- View Summary
This is a simple breakdown of your pay from Gross to Net with withholdings described in terms of pre-tax deductions, taxes withheld and after-tax deductions. These withholdings represent your tax options, your benefit options, your retirement accounts, etc., as they are withheld from your Gross Pay. This area provides the best at-a-glance view of your paycheck.
- View Hours and Earnings
This is a breakdown of your hours worked during this pay period, your earnings, your Year to Date (YTD) Earnings, your Benefits, and your vacation/sick time used.

- View Pre-Tax Deductions
This is a breakdown of the deductions that are taken from your pay prior to taxes being calculated and deducted.
- View Taxes Withheld
This is a breakdown of your Medicare, Federal Income Tax, Social Security and State Income Tax withheld for the current pay period as well as the Year to Date (YTD) amounts.
The Federal Tax and State Tax withheld are contingent upon your Tax withholding status. If you would like to, you can change it in Employee Self-Service.

- View After-Tax Deductions
This is a breakdown of the deductions that are taken from your pay after your taxes have been deducted.
- View Tax Withholding Information
This is a breakdown of your Federal and State Tax status.
If the information in these fields is not correct, you can change it in Employee Self-Service.

- View Net Pay Distribution
If you have Direct Deposit, this is a breakdown of the accounts that your pay will be distributed to and the amounts that is distributed to them.
If the information in this field is not correct, and you would like to either add 1 or more direct deposit accounts, delete an account, or edit the details of an account, you can make the appropriate adjustments in Employee Self-Service.

- View Other Information
If you have enrolled in the Emeriti Program, a Health Savings Account or in the Basic TIAA-CREF retirement plan, this section will detail the contributions you received from Ithaca College both for the payroll being viewed and for the Year to Date.
- Navigate to previous paychecks.
Use the “Choose a Payslip” navigator at the top of the screen.

- Click on the drop-down arrow and select the paycheck date you would like to view and then click on the “Go” button.
- Click the “Home” link (at the top or bottom of the page) at any time during your viewing of the Payslip information in order to leave this session and return to the main menu.
7. Print a copy of the page that you are on, and retain it for your records if so desired.
- Use your browser’s “File” menu and select “Print…”.
8. Click the “Home” link (at the top or bottom of the page) to exit when you are finished viewing your Payslip(s).
You can continue to work with Employee Self-Service from the main menu.
9. Click the “Logout” link (in the upper right corner of the page) when finished with Employee Self-Service to properly disconnect from Parnassus.
