Practical, applicable, marketable -- few degrees offer the tangible benefits of accounting. Our two-tier B.S./M.B.A. program delivers those benefits while offering you the flexibility to reach your personal and professional goals.
Students in our accounting program receive a thorough grounding in the theory and application of financial accounting and reporting, managerial and cost accounting, taxation, auditing, and business law principles. You'll have ample opportunity to test your skills, too, with cocurricular activities such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and through involvements with student organizations, professional associations, and internships. Liberal arts courses and electives round out this professional core.
During your junior or senior year you may choose to finish your studies with the bachelor's degree program or take the Graduate Management Admissions Test and apply for our fifth-year professional accountancy M.B.A. program, which is registered with New York State's Department of Education. Students completing this intensive one-year curriculum meet the additional requirements necessary to take New York's certified public accountant exam -- and Ithaca College accounting students have some of the best CPA exam pass rates in the state!
Whether you pursue the B.S. or M.B.A. track, you'll be well prepared to provide auditing, consulting, and income tax services to nonprofit organizations, businesses, and individuals. Ithaca's reputation for developing premier accounting talent has ensured positions for our graduates at virtually every large accounting firm; our alumni are also working in various accounting and auditing capacities in corporate and business settings.
