Send a Celebratory Video Message

As a media-producing school, it’s only natural that we create a compilation of video messages from all of you. We will be posting these videos on our social media as well as screening them at our upcoming events throughout the year.

Read below for content prompts followed by best practices for shooting video (just in case any of you forgot!).

Content Prompts

  1. Name, major, and graduation year
    • Option to mention current position
  2. Favorite (pick one):
    • Class
    • Professor/Mentor
    • Co-Curricular, student media, student organization
  3. A short, but thoughtful message about (pick one):
    • Impact of your time as a student
    • Fondest memory – a specific event, project, etc.
    • Skills and lessons from your time as a student that have stayed with you and helped you in your career.
  4. A final, unified celebratory message - imagine a screen full of alumni saying:
    • "Cheers to the next 50 years!"
  5. Upload video to: https://www.dropbox.com/request/luQ2m39DCsnw7YkS9c35*

*by uploading the video to Dropbox, you are allowing the Roy H. Park School of Communications to use your footage online and for in-person events. Not all parts of all submissions will be used.

Best Practices for Shooting Video

Outline of a person's head and shoulders in the middle of a horizontal rectangle.

Set the camera to frame yourself as shown in this image.

  • Set camera to record horizontally (landscape)
  • Focus on your head and shoulders, but with some distance from the camera
  • Leave space around your head – our editors will do the cropping
  • Light your face from in front – no backlighting
  • Clean background preferred
  • No/minimal background noise
  • Leave pauses between each statement for editing
  • Feel free to send a couple of different takes
