I want to become a PA because I am eager to practice evidence-based medicine in communities of color to advocate and serve their needs through a personalized lens. As a PA working on a collaborative healthcare team, I am ready to promote the value of health equity for all through my servant leadership, advocacy, versatility, and cultural competency to ensure all disadvantaged/minority populations receive the highest standard of care, regardless of their background or social determinants to health. I chose Ithaca College's PA program because its mission, vision, and values are centered around developing a diverse cohort of culturally competent PAs who will execute the goal of practicing medicine within an equity framework as leaders of their healthcare team. After my interview with Ithaca College's PA program, I truly felt at home knowing that their values were in alignment with mine and that I would be well supported and prepared to embark on this journey in medicine with the strong leadership and tools this program has to offer. As a PA student, I am excited to get started in the cadaver lab! I enjoy the hands-on skills in medicine and getting lost in the intricacies of the human body. As a future PA, I am most excited to collaborate with Caribbean countries and help organize acute care clinics in rural areas of the islands to bridge basic healthcare accessibility.
