One of IC’s own is also one of America’s most decorated Olympic rowers. Meghan Musnicki, a 2005 graduate, has honors as wide and as deep as the waters she trained on as an IC Bomber.

Meghan was a member of the United States national rowing team from 2010 to 2015, earning a staggering 18 medals in international competition—including 12 gold. She helped row the women’s eight to their second consecutive gold in the 2012 London Olympics and their third in Rio de Janeiro four years later. She’s also been integral in driving the United States to five golds at the World Rowing Championships.

“It takes a level of commitment, drive, and willingness to push yourself beyond where you think you can go.”

The Musnicki family name is a force in the Ithaca College rowing community; in 2005, the Bombers dedicated the Bill Musnicki III ’75, a racing shell named in honor of Meghan’s late father.

Meghan also had a decorated college career. A 2013 inductee into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame, she earned first-team all-America honors as a senior and helped row the Bombers to back-to-back national championships from 2004 to 2005. She even gave IC’s 2015 Commencement address.

Among the many things Meghan carries with her from her time at Ithaca College is the drive to be the best rower she can be.

“I love to win,” Meghan says. “I’ve always had a passion to compete, train, and be fast. It takes a level of commitment, drive, and willingness to push yourself beyond where you think you can go.”
