CAPS-Let's Talk 2022

Let’s Talk is back! And we are still virtual!

In the past, “Let’s Talk” had been a drop-in service that offered informal, confidential consultations with a CAPS counselor at various locations around campus.  Since fall 2020, Let’s Talk went virtual.  This will continue for fall 2022!  Let’s Talk is a free service where Ithaca College students can check in via telehealth for an informal and confidential consultation with a CAPS counselor.  The brief consultations will be available by phone or by Zoom.  Let’s Talk will start the week of August 15th and will continue through the week of finals.

Let’s Talk is informal and not intended to be a substitute for formal counseling and doesn’t constitute mental health treatment.  However, counselors can listen to specific problems, help explore solutions, and introduce you to what it’s like to speak to a member of the CAPS staff. Speaking with a Let’s Talk counselor can help provide insight, support, and information about other resources.  Let’s Talk is:

  • Offered first-come, first-served
  • Minimal paperwork
  • FREE for ALL Ithaca College Students
  • Confidential

Let’s Talk is especially helpful for students who...

  • Aren’t sure about counseling or wonder what it’s like to talk with a counselor;
  • Aren’t interested in ongoing counseling but would like the perspective of a counselor;
  • Have a specific problem and would like someone with whom to talk it through; or,
  • Have a concern about a friend or family member and would like ideas about what to do.

No topic is off limits. Common concerns include:

  • stress
  • sadness
  • worry
  • relationships
  • academic performance
  • family problems
  • financial struggles
