Important Reminders for Students During Final Days of Spring 2023 Semester

By News, May 3, 2023

Dear Ithaca College Students,

I share this message with you today with great excitement as we rapidly count down the final days of the spring semester and the conclusion of the 2022-23 academic year. This is typically a time when we come together as a campus community to celebrate all we have accomplished over this past year. End-of-semester activities and celebrations are an important part of the college experience; however, we must continue to conduct ourselves with responsibility and care in the days ahead to ensure we finish this academic year successfully!

I want to take a moment to highlight some exciting upcoming Ithaca College sponsored events and initiatives to celebrate the conclusion of the academic year.

IC Kicks Back – Friday, May 5
Celebrate the final day of classes by swinging by the Campus Center Quad for our annual IC Kicks Back event, set to be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. This event is open to all Ithaca College students free of charge and includes barbeque favorites, carnival games, inflatables, sweet treats, as well as a lineup of live music entertainment. All students must bring their Ithaca College ID in order to enter the event

No bags, water bottles, or containers will be permitted. There will be a bag check location to safely store personal bags and belongings for students arriving to the event directly from class.

Annual IC Community Free Brunch – Saturday, May 6
The Campus Center Dining Hall will be hosting its annual IC Community Brunch on Saturday, May 6, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This free event is open to all current IC students, regardless if you have an existing IC meal plan or not. Students need to bring their Ithaca College ID. Students not on an IC meal plan or on a commuter meal plan should notify IC Dining staff at check-in. Stop by and fuel up on brunch favorites to get your pre-final exam weekend started successfully.

“Celebrating Smart” Initiative – Win $50 Amazon Gift Card!
I encourage our students to participate in our “Celebrating Smart” campaign to share your pledge to celebrate responsibly in the days to come. Good Neighbors, Good Friends
I would like to conclude this message by reminding you of our shared commitment to being a campus community that cares for one another.

If you are planning to host end of semester celebrations, please be good neighbors to others. Pay special attention to abide by all laws and local noise ordinances, and take responsibility in respecting the people and property in our shared Ithaca community.

Please look out for one another and be willing to make positive interventions if encountering a situation where a friend or fellow student needs aid. I encourage you to check out this page to learn more about Ithaca College’s Medical Amnesty Policy (MAP) intended to encourage students to seek medical assistance due to drug and alcohol emergencies. Students encountering an emergency situation on campus should always contact Ithaca College’s Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management at 607-274-3333 to receive further support. When off campus, call 9-1-1 to report an emergency.

I wish you all the very best as we look forward to a strong finish to the 2022-23 academic year!

Sincerely,

Bonnie Solt Prunty
Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Life
