Gus Macker Basketball Tournament Hosted by Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC):

"The Greater Ithaca Activities Center (GIAC) is a center for all ages, particularly youth and teens. It serves the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca area by providing multicultural, educational, and recreational programs focused on social and individual development." Click here to learn more about GIAC and the first annual Gus Macker Basketball Tournament in Ithaca! There will be a meal provided to volunteers at this event.

Students will help the tournament by keeping score during the basketball games and helping with entertainment!

Time: 11:30pm - 3pm (Meal provided!)

Ithaca Peace Festival

Sponsored by St. Catherine of Siena, Ithaca Peace Festival is "a celebration of our diversity, mutual connection, and peace together." Click here to learn more about this unique event in ithaca!

Students will be assisting with a variety of Peace Festival activities, such as setting up the welcome tent, food, drinks, & children's activities the day of the festival. Hang signs, bringing supplies from the parish center to the booths, setting up tables, chairs, signs, tents, booths, etc.

Note: this event is sponsored by a faith-based organization.

Youth Farm Project (Special Fall Partnership)

The Office of Student Engagement and the Youth Farm Project will be collaborating on the Service Saturdays program through the Fall of 2019. Students will have the option of volunteering with YFP during the September, October, and November Service Saturdays. This serves as an opportunity to learn more closely about the food justice efforts of this organization in Tompkins County.

The mission of YFP is to "empower youth from diverse social and economic backgrounds as integral participants in building equitable local food communities." In addition, "YFP is dedicated to healing our food system through an anti-racist organizing lens by bringing together youth from diverse backgrounds to explore environmental and social injustice within the food system." Students will have an opportunity to assist YFP with a variety of outdoor gardening activities.

Habitat for Humanity of Cortland and Tompkins County

The overall mission of Habitat for Humanity (H4H) is "a world where everyone has a decent place to live." Our local Habitat for Humanity states that, "together with our communities, Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties puts faith and love into action by building homes and hope."
