In our research group, we design and synthesize large molecules (called polymers) with potentially interesting and useful properties. For example, we have worked on making compostable plastics, polymers that luminesce, and plastics that exhibit permanent porosity. Students in the group learn a lot about the synthesis and characterization of organic molecules.
