The Gilman scholarship program offers a competition for awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000.

Spring 2010

Susannah Faulkner ('11), a Politics major, received a Gilman Scholarship for Ireland through the IES Peace and Conflict Studies program. In Ireland, she interned with the Irish Labour Party.

Rebekah Shyloski ('11), a Spanish and Art History double major, received a Gilman Scholarship for for study in Cordoba, Argentina, to immerse herself in the Castilian dialect spoken in the region and study art collections in Cordoba and Buenos Aires.

Joni Sweet ('11), a Journalism major, received the Gilman Scholarship for study in India, where she explored the connection between Hinduism and Indian cuisine.

Amanda Wright ('11), a Spanish major, received the Gilman Scholarship for study in Argentina

Calvin Smith ('08), an Integrated Marketing Communications major, received the Gilman scholarship for study in Barcelona, Spain, where he took Spanish and international marketing and business courses, and interned at ACV Global, a marketing/advertising firm.
