This seminar originally had the title "Global Population Change and Diversity" when I first co-taught the course with Dr. John Krout in the fall of 2006.  We study current social issues through the lens of demography, the study of population.  Students become familiar with factors affecting fertility, mortality and migration and use this knowledge to look in-depth at issues such as illegal immigration, the "decline" of the family, population aging, and warnings about overpopulation.
