Transfer Students

Welcome!

The New Student & Transition Programs office is here to help build community and connections among transfer students. Through events and campus resources, our goal is to make your transition to Ithaca College welcoming and memorable.

Who is a transfer student?

Applicants who have received a high school diploma (or its equivalent) and subsequently earned nine or more college credits or enrolled full time at another college are considered transfer students at Ithaca College.

Transfer Orientation & New Student Checklist

We are thrilled that you chose to transfer to Ithaca College! We're here to help make your transition to IC as smooth as possible. Here's how to get started:

As a newly enrolled transfer student, you will receive information from our office about the New Student Checklist which contains tasks to be completed before you arrive at Orientation to get you started as a new IC student.

We understand that you may have completed similar tasks at your previous institution(s), but it's essential for us to have all of the checklist information to ensure a smooth transition and provide you with the best support. We're here to help you every step of the way, so please reach out if you have questions!

Prior to Orientation, transfer students will receive an email with instructions for scheduling a 1:1 (remote) advising appointment with someone from your respective Dean's Office to review transcripts and plan your upcoming semester's course schedule.

If you have questions about or wish to make any changes to your course schedule, you will also have a chance at Orientation to meet with an advisor.

All new students are required to attend Orientation, which is designed to help you get accustomed to IC's environment and resources, and facilitate connections with your new peers, staff, and faculty. You will be assigned into small groups with fellow transfers and a transfer Orientation Leader. So instead of focusing on general college transition topics, you'll learn from a current transfer student leader all about IC-specific resources to help you get acclimated to your new environment and make meaningful connections right from the start.

We understand that you've likely attended a new student orientation at your previous institution, but also that transitioning to a new college can present challenges. We purposefully develop a customized track for transfer students at Orientation, to help you feel more connected to IC and ease the adjustment to a new college.

Ithaca College Transfer Club

Looking for a casual way to get connected with other transfer students on campus? Consider joining Ithaca College Transfer Club, or ICTC! ICTC is an organization at Ithaca College meant for forming a safe, enjoyable atmosphere for transfer students throughout the semester.
