Ithaca College Board of Trustees Recognizes Faculty Members

Tenure, promotion and emeritus status granted.

Congratulations to the current and former members of the faculty who have been recognized by the Ithaca College Board of Trustees. At its February meetings, the board granted emeritus status to 11 former faculty members and awarded promotions and tenure to 14 current faculty members.

The following were named professor emeritus or emerita. This is an honorary title awarded after retirement to those who have made sustained contributions to Ithaca College and/or to their profession in teaching, scholarship and service.

School of Business
Donald Eckrich, professor of marketing, who retired in December 2016.

Patricia Libby, associate professor of accounting, who retired in May 2017.

Roy H. Park School of Communications
Mara Alper, associate professor of media arts, sciences and studies, who retired in December 2016.

Tom Nicholson, associate professor of media arts, sciences and studies, who retired in May 2018.

Megan Roberts, associate professor of media arts, sciences and studies, who retired in May 2016.

Wenmouth Williams, professor of media arts, sciences and studies, who retired in May 2014.

Norman Johnson, associate professor of theatre arts, who retired in May 2018.

Jonathan Laskowitz, associate professor of sociology, who retired in May 2018.

John Rosenthal, professor of mathematics, who retired in May 2018.

James Swafford, associate professor of English, who retired in May 2018.

Susan Weisend, professor of art, who retired in May 2018.

The following faculty members were awarded tenure and promoted from assistant to associate professor. Criteria for promotion to associate professor include a sustained record of teaching excellence, evidence of significant scholarly or appropriate professional attainment, and evidence of service to the college and profession.
