John W. White is Associate Professor of Music Theory at Ithaca College specializing in Aural Skills Pedagogy and the analysis of free improvisation. Since 2016 he has been Director of the IC Jazz Vocal Ensemble. As a pianist he is equally at home in the worlds of jazz, classical, and popular music, and has collaborated with such national artists as Rhiannon, Kim Nazarian, Paul Hanson, and Wycliffe Gordon. He continues to perform regularly with regional musicians spanning numerous vernacular styles including jazz, Afro-Cuban, funk, R&B, soul, and rock.
