Hailed as a “soloist, teacher, and force of nature,” bassoonist Christin Schillinger specializes in the accessibility of the avant-garde, aiming to broaden the audience for both new music and bassoon. She works closely with living composers to dismantle the traditional canon and expand repertoire for instrument:  her three solo albums on the MSR Classics label feature numerous world premieres. Schillinger also authored Bassoon Reed Making with Indiana University Press (2016) in which she details current and historical trends in reed pedagogy. Schillinger is an active advocate for women in the Art Music Industry, re-imagining a more inclusive, accessible, and inviting performance paradigm.
