Be an Agent for Positive Change

Learn to design and manage the voice, tone, and flow of communications in organizations.

If people look to you as a leader, spokesperson, digital designer, or event planner, you can turn those talents into a field of study and career in our B.S. degree in Communication Management and Design.  You'll explore corporate communication, digital / interaction design, event management, crisis communication, leadership, consulting, and instructional technology.  All of this can be leveraged to make a difference in whatever your passion may be -- from workplace diversity to sustainability to world health or the arts and music.

You’ll be enrolled in classes in your major from day one that give you both a knowledge base and a realistic view of potential career paths like an executive speechwriter and presentation designer, instructional media designer/producer, event planner, social media coordinator, webmaster, community relations manager, and many more.  Students have the option to select one of two concentrations, Corporate Communication or Communication Design.   By the time you graduate you’ll be prepared to lead organizations in their creative and strategic communication initiatives.

Additionally, many students in Communication Management and Design become involved in student government, our student media and clubs, particularly Park Promotions, the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), 180 Degree Consulting, and Event Planners Ithaca College (EPIC).  Check out our student media and student publications & clubs page.

Students interested in this area may also wish to explore our minor in Live Event Design and Management.
