Cat Fox, ‘22, is an Integrated Marketing Communications major with a double minor in Communication Management and Design and Live Event Design and Management. Cat is currently the health and safety officer for the student-organized club at Ithaca College, 180 Degrees Consulting. Cat has been involved with 180 Degrees Consulting for over a year now.

Q: What inspired you to join the 180 degrees club?

A: Well, first of all, I love the idea of working with nonprofits. It is just one of those things where I always like trying to find ways to give back to people, and it's cool to like being able to give back, especially to the Ithaca community. Even more so since I'm inhabiting Ithaca for four years as a student, I might as well give back.

Q: Is your role interchangeable throughout the club? Are you able to take on multiple positions and get different experiences while working with different positions?

A: Yes. I am currently on the rebranding team, but I am also technically the health and safety officer. Even though we we’re online during the pandemic, it's still great because I did the training on what to do if there's a COVID-19 outbreak in your club. Just being able to have both of those skill sets in the club is very beneficial. The club allows you to have many roles, and I feel I am able to change my roles when need be.

Q: How many other IMC students are involved with the club?

A: Honestly, probably the whole club is involved. There are about eight members, and I know at least six of them are IMC students.

Q: What do you feel has been your most rewarding experience since joining the club?

A: I just really love being able to do things for people. Honestly, the most rewarding thing for me is being able to give these clients what they need, and without it costing them anything. Last semester, we helped the Cancer Resource Center, and now we are working with a nonprofit radio station. The radio station does a lot for the community, so it's great to be able to give back to the people of Ithaca.

Q: What client currently are you representing? And what work are you doing for them?

A: We're working with WSKG, which is a nonprofit radio broadcasting station in the Ithaca area. Right now, I'm on the rebranding team. As a team we’re trying to make the stations content more desirable for the consumers they want to target, especially the ones they are not reaching like teenagers and millennials. It's very difficult to reach that audience these days with so many other mediums, but we are confident we will work out a solution.
