As a multisport athlete from the small town of Niantic, CT, I was always acutely aware of the injuries that my teammates and I were subject to. Enduring my own rehab and empowering others through theirs initially inspired my interest in helping fellow athletes as a physical therapist. With sights set on the highest-quality education for physical therapy, I had applied and been accepted to the prestigious six-year doctoral program at Ithaca College.
During my time at Ithaca College, each professor, friend, and peer helped me to see that physical therapy encompasses more than athletics. My opportunities working with many students as a tutor or teaching assistant, as well as my experience beginning a unique research project with students of other disciplines, helped to show me the value of working alongside other medical professionals. Through my aquatic and orthopedic clinical grand rounds, multiple faculty members helped guide my personal and professional growth when treating various demographics of patients. I am thankful for the support of all of those around me through this challenging program, and I look forward to more experiences to come.
