Conservatory Training within the Liberal Arts
At Ithaca College we believe that undergraduates should be exposed to a broad liberal arts education, as well as conservatory training in theatrical production and design. We take telling stories about the human condition seriously and consider it a privilege with huge responsibility. So students will take a course of study that challenges them to consider complex problems in multiple disciplines in the general education program as well as courses in the Center for Theatre and Dance that equip students to tell these stories.
Training the Complete Theatre Artist
We complement that liberal arts education with intensive conservatory training in theatrical production and a broad range of theatre courses. All of our students are required to complete at least one major culminating production assignment in either design or technology before they graduate, and most students do several. Students experience a diversity of productions, from drama to musical theatre, opera to dance. When our students graduate they have a portfolio of realized work that prepares them to enter the profession or graduate school.
The Undergraduate Choice
At Ithaca College, we are exclusively committed to the undergraduate experience, and only accept undergraduate students. 100% of our resources are dedicated to training undergraduate students.
Get Your Hands on the Stuff
Our facilities are state-of-the-art and fully equipped. Our students gain first-hand experience in the most up-to-date theatre technologies, including moving lights, automated scenery, and digital sound.
Join the Ithaca Theatre Alumni Network
Graduates from Ithaca College join the network of our successful alumni whose work can be seen on Broadway, in regional theatres across the country, on tour, in production shops, and in allied fields such as architecture, film, television, and industrial events. In the senior year students can connect with this alumni network through our intensive “Field Studies in NYC” program.
