About An Inside Look

You and your guests will enjoy a catered lunch, a welcome address, a multiculltural fair featuring student and local organizations, and dinner in a dining hall. You and other accepted students will also choose to participate in two of the following three workshops:

Students of Color at Ithaca College

This session will provide a realistic account of the various experiences of students of color while navigating this majority institution. Topics will include challenges, successes, opportunities, advice, and everything in between. Reaching across diversity in our various communities of color (athletics, academic programs, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, organizations, and interests), student panelists will engage in open and honest dialogue.

LGBTQ Life at Ithaca College

Our campus is home to a diverse, vibrant, and engaged community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), and allied students, staff, and faculty. Many LGBT and allied people have found the campus and surrounding community an ideal place to learn, work, and live. Learn about involvement opportunities, leadership experiences, and chances for community engagement through the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, and Service. Current IC students will share their perspectives, provide information about student organizations, and answer your questions.

First-Generation College Students at Ithaca College

This panel discussion will provide a window into the experiences of students who have successfully overcome challenges in their transition to college. While leaving home is a big change for everyone, you may discover that the speakers are just like you, a high school friend, or perhaps your new roommate—the first in their family to attend or graduate from college. Panelists will share information about the unique obstacles they faced on campus and at home, the resources IC offers, and the strengths that first-generation college students bring to our community.
