What's in this section?

Experiential learning is more than just learning by doing.  Reflection, critical analysis, and synthesis are important parts of the process. Learn more about experiential learning, why it is important, and types of experiences in "What is experiential learning?"

Definitions

Experiential Learning:  Experiential learning means learning from experience or learning by doing. Experiential education first immerses learners in an experience and then encourages reflection about the experience to develop new skills, new attitudes, or new ways of thinking.

Service Learning: Service-learning is a course-based, credit-bearing educational experience in which students participate in an organized service activity that meaningfully addresses community-identified needs and then critically reflect on this service activity to further understand course content, more broadly appreciate the academic discipline, and significantly enhance their sense of civic responsibility. - Bringle and Hatcher
