Anna Doane has been singing for as long as she can remember. She says, "I did not have a different introduction than most people, listening to music in the car with my parents, going to church on Sunday and music in school. As early as elementary school I was auditioning to be in the musical, but my enthusiasm for auditioning for things faded quickly. I remained in chorus in school, also joining the children’s choir at church. Once in middle school I got a solo during one of our chorus concerts and I started participating in NYSSMA. From middle school continuing on to high school I participated in my schools select vocal ensembles, wanting to do more than just regular chorus. I continued to participate in music at my church, I out-grew the children’s choir and became a cantor as well as a member of the adult choir. In high school I went to Area-All State twice, getting to be surrounded by other people my age who were as excited to be there as I was."
