Robert Pasternack, 1936-2021

 We are saddened to share the news of Dr. Robert (Bob) Pasternack's passing, at the age of 84. Bob was a founding member of the chemistry department at Ithaca College, and worked at IC for 20 years (1963-1983) before moving to Swarthmore College, where he taught for another 28 years. Bob has authored 119 scholarly papers, and is one of the key people responsible for establishing a robust undergraduate research program in the natural sciences, a legacy which lives on today.

Bob is also responsible for initiating the C. P. Snow lecture series at Ithaca College, designed to highlight work that bridges the gap between the "two cultures" of science and the humanities. It is the colleges longest running lecture series.
