Message From the President: Senior Leadership Team Update and Reminders

Posted on behalf of President Shirley M. Collado

As we continue the implementation of our Ithaca Forever strategic plan, specifically focusing on the importance of academic affairs, the student experience, and the infrastructure that undergirds and facilitates our ongoing work, I want to share an update with this community about a key member of the college’s senior leadership team and a few reminders as we look ahead to the new academic year.

Since her appointment as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs in July 2018, La Jerne Terry Cornish has been a transformational leader both within the office of academic affairs and college-wide. She has been my thought partner on critical issues related to the successful implementation of Ithaca Forever and has led strategic decision-making processes relative to the overall direction of the institution. Given her strong and steady leadership over the past three years and her fierce commitment to the success of our students and the college, I will be updating her title to Provost and Executive Vice President to better reflect the on-going depth of her service to this institution and the significant role she plays in leading IC. This change will be effective July 1, 2021.

Also effective July 1 and as I shared with our community on March 17, Dave Weil ’87, MS ’89, will join the senior leadership team as Chief Information Officer. This change allows us to fully leverage our IT investments to address challenges across all aspects of the institution, both academic and administrative. It’s important to note that Dave has already been working closely with me and members of my team, as IT touches upon and undergirds all divisions of the college. I look forward to adding his wisdom and expertise at the college’s highest level.

Finally, as a reminder, Tim Downs will be joining our campus community in August as Vice President for Finance and Administration. I look forward to his energy, expertise, and contributions as we continue the implementation of our strategic plan.

I look forward to a promising and important academic year and am grateful to have in place a strong and talented senior leadership team laser-focused on evolving the college in service of its mission and our students.

Sincerely,

Shirley M. Collado
President
