ICTV Places Third in BEA's Disrupt the News Competition

Earlier this summer, Ithaca College Television (ICTV) placed third in the Broadcast Education Association's annual Disrupt the News competition. Per BEA's submission rules, college stations were prompted to "show us how you reinvented news in the COVID world." With many college's operating remotely or hybrid during the past academic year, the competition encouraged station's to share how they were able to continue producing newscasts with new obstacles in place.

ICTV submitted its December 6, 2020 episode of Newswatch, which aired on the ICTV News Facebook page during Ithaca's fall semester. The newscast was produced remotely by students Erika Liberati, Mark Scaglione, Bailey Becher and Frank Preolo. Anchors Allura Leggard and Jack Culkin shared information about local, regional and national stories from their home living rooms. Interviews were conducted over applications such as Zoom.

Newswatch is ICTV's local newscast airing Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the academic year. It's produced live in Ithaca's Roy H. Park School of Communications.
