Fire Evacuation Drills Starting Soon

By Charlie Sherman, September 20, 2021

Environmental Health and Safety personnel will be conducting fire evacuation exercises for all campus buildings.

As required by the New York State Fire Code, Ithaca College Environmental Health and Safety personnel will be conducting fire evacuation exercises for all campus buildings over the course of the next few weeks.  The New York State Fire Code is very specific as to the number of drills to be conducted, and that they be conducted at random times of the day when the building is in operation.

All occupants are required to exit a building in a safe and expedient manner any time the fire alarm system is activated, and then gather at the building’s established meeting spot.  EH&S will attempt to conduct the drills during reasonable weather. If you are aware of a specific date or time that may be a conflict (exam, lab, etc.) please advise our office and we will try to avoid the time period. Requests or concerns should be directed to; csherman1@ithaca.edu

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask the EH&S staff conducting the drill. Working together we maintain fire code compliance while demonstrating a commitment of providing a safe environment for our college community.

Thank you
