Public Health Update: CHS Issues Updated Kits for On-Campus COVID-19 Surveillance Testing

By Dan DeCaria, September 23, 2021

Beginning on Friday, September 24, Ithaca College will be fully transitioning to the new style testing kit for on-campus COVID-19 surveillance testing. New kits will be available at all testing kit pick-up and drop-off locations, which include:

  • Campus Center Lobby
  • A&E Center Lobby
  • Peggy Ryan Williams Center Lobby
  • Farm Pond Road (Employees Only)

It is important that all individuals participating in surveillance testing moving forward utilize these new kits when completing their testing submission. Cayuga Health System (CHS) no longer has the ability to process samples provided using the old test kits. If you currently have the old style of test kit, which may have included the inclusion of a vial of preservative solution, please dispose of those properly and exclusively utilize the new test kits provided at these locations moving forward.

The new style of test kit features a smaller collection vial and no longer includes the secondary vial of preservative solution. Please follow all directions included in the kit in order to successfully submit your testing sample.

Thank you for your cooperation and your continued efforts to protect the health and well-being of our campus community.
