Park Welcomes Award-Winning Television Writer Dan O'Shannon

Dan O'Shannon Brings Comedic Narrative Writing Intensive to Park

Park is thrilled to welcome award-winning writer and producer Dan O'Shannon as the 2021 Park Distinguished Visitor.
 
O'Shannon is a veteran television writer and executive producer who has contributed to some of the most acclaimed network comedies of the last 30 years such as Modern Family, Cheers, Frasier, and Newhart. O’Shannon is a six-time Primetime Emmy Award winner for his work on Modern Family, Cheers, and Frasier. Along with his Emmy wins, O’Shannon has received a Golden Globe Award, 3 Writers Guild of American (WGA) Awards, and a Humanitas, Annie, and Peabody Award as well as one Academy Award nomination.
 
During his two-week visit, O'Shannon will team up with Dr. Jack Powers to teach an intensive comedic narrative writing course for select Writing for Film, Television, & Emerging Media (WFTE) majors to possibly be optioned and pitched.

All students will have an opportunity to interact with O'Shannon during his two weeks on campus. The Park School will offer a writing-specific session on Tuesday, October 19th. The entire Ithaca College community will be invited to "A Conversation with Dan O'Shannon" during the common hour on Tuesday, October 26th in the Park Auditorium.
