A Summit of Hope: Fostering Happiness

Are you in need of SLI/Career Connection credits? Are you interested in developing leadership skills that promote happiness in your work and social environment? This year's leadership summit will be focused on the topic of fostering happiness within yourself, others, and the world. Following a time of great tension due to Covid-19, now is the time to focus on what brings out the best in yourself and those around you.

The event will include a number of guest alumni speakers who will present on their experience with finding happiness throughout and post college. We hope that from this summit, you will take the courage to strive for what makes you feel happy and fulfilled.

The summit will take place on November 6th, 2021 from 10:00am to 1:00pm in the business school. Click HERE to register! We hope to see you there!

Speakers (Note that there will be more speakers than shown. These are the two we have prepared so far.):

Erica Shockley

Erica Shockley has dedicated her career in higher education to supporting students and family members through their college journey. She is now serving local high school students and family members navigating their pathway into college. Coordinating a non-profit, access to college program, allows her to connect students to the resources that will help them succeed in college and cultivate resiliency in life. Erica is also a yoga facilitator, managing a business that connects local organizations to yoga and mindful practices.

Alexander Perry

Originally from a small town in Maine, Alex (he/they) graduated from Ithaca College in May 2020, where he studied sociology and Spanish. As an undergrad, he played on the Varsity Golf Team and was a strong advocate for LGBTQ athletes through his involvement with Student Governance Council and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He is currently a PhD student at UAlbany and hopes to further study inclusion of transgender athletes. Outside of school, Alex enjoys exploring the great outdoors and playing sports, watching the Red Sox beat the Yankees, and solving Rubik's Cubes.
