Ithaca College Faculty Council Statement on Antisemitism

By Ellen J. Staurowsky, October 16, 2022

At the most recent meeting of Faculty Council on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, the Council issued this statement in response to the recent report of a swastika carved into a storage room door in the Terrace Dining Hall.

As both individual Ithaca College faculty members and as elected representatives of the entire faculty on our institution’s all-college Faculty Council, we are deeply dismayed and troubled to learn of the carving of a swastika on the door of a storage room in the Terrace Dining Hall.   We unequivocally condemn antisemitism. We join others throughout our campus in offering our heartfelt support and strong solidarity to our Jewish colleagues, staff, students, and family members confronted with this hateful symbol.
