A Campus Conversation about ChatGPT

By David Weil, January 19, 2023

Please join members of the Provost’s Office, Center for Faculty Excellence, Student Governance Council, Computer Science Department, and Information Technology for a discussion about the ChatGPT tool and its potential impact for students, faculty and staff.

Tuesday, January 31st

Textor 102, 12:10 PM – 1:00 PM

ChatGPT is a computer program that uses artificial intelligence to understand and respond to human language in a way that is similar to how a person would. It can be used for a variety of tasks, including answering simple and complex questions, writing stories and articles, and generating responses in a human-like way.

As this technology continues to evolve, it is important that we understand both the potential benefits and concerns it presents for a college community.

During this session, a panel of faculty, staff, and students will provide an overview of ChatGPT and why it's important to consider the opportunities and challenges it presents.

This will be the first in a planned series of conversations about the use and implications of this technology.

A recording of the discussion will be made available after the session.
