Farewell Celebration for Dr. Becky Lane, Associate Director of Learning & Innovative Technologies

By Jenna Linskens, March 24, 2023

IT@IC announces the departure of Becky Lane, who has been a valued member of the Ithaca College community for the past five years. Becky will be leaving us on April 4, to begin an exciting new opportunity at Cornell.

Becky joined IT@IC in 2018 to support a VR pilot initiative and later became a full-time Instructional Designer/Digital Media Coordinator. She was later appointed as the Associate Director of Learning & Innovative Technologies (L&IT). Over the past 5 years, she has led work to establish an entire space dedicated to innovative teaching and learning, the Center for Creative Technologies (CCT).

During her time at IC Becky has supported many IT efforts including the Gaming Tournament, Ed Tech Day, and the Teaching & Learning Symposium. She has hosted VR events in the library for students and helped coordinate student-led workshops in the CCT.  Becky led the VR Lenovo Project in collaboration with the Teacher Ed program and co-authored a chapter on their efforts with Christine Hafer, a former professor of education at IC. Becky's work with the Education Department was also highlighted on the Lenovo website, in a case study, and as a podcast.

We want to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Becky for her dedication and hard work during her time with us. She has worked with campus partners to establish a welcoming and supportive culture in the CCT.  Working with others she led efforts to establish CCT services, procedures, guidelines, and policies to create a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff to learn and explore. We will certainly miss her presence and enthusiasm and wholeheartedly support her pursuit of new challenges and professional growth.

Please join us anytime between 1:30-3:00 pm on Thursday, March 30 in Friends 110c, the Flexible Learning Lab, for cake and an opportunity to celebrate Becky and the work she has done for the IC community.
