Dear Campus Community,

I want to share with you the news that over the summer, Associate Dean of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance Dr. Ivy Walz was selected in a national search to serve as Associate Dean of Faculty, Research, Creativity, and Outreach at the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts at Texas Tech University.

As part of the role, Ivy will be a tenured member of the voice faculty, and will lead initiatives related to supporting creative research, tenure and promotion, managing and supporting graduate students and their assistantship assignments, shepherding external partnerships, facilitating interdisciplinary initiatives, and assisting with accreditation procedures across the Schools of the College: Music, Art, and Theatre and Dance. She will begin this appointment on September 1.

Ivy shares that it feels impossible to adequately express her gratitude to Ithaca College for so many rich blessings. It has been her greatest honor and privilege to serve on the voice faculty since 2011, raise her family here, enjoy this fabulous region, and emerge in administration during times of great change and opportunity. As a dedicated alum of Ithaca College, ’93 (BM) and ’02 (MM), she will shine the light of South Hill brightly in all her endeavors, and she looks forward to remaining connected with all of you through the fabric of our professional and personal connections. If you are ever in Lubbock, TX, please reach out to her!

I wish to thank Ivy for her outstanding contributions to Ithaca College since 2011, and I am extremely grateful for her extraordinary contributions to the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Ivy’s hard work, vision, and positive presence have been an enormous asset to the establishment and evolution of our School. Ivy is a true team player and a genuine pleasure to work with, and while she will be much missed, I wish Ivy and her family the very best in their future endeavors.

I will be announcing soon our plans for interim leadership of the Center for Music and a search for Ivy’s successor.

Kind regards,

Anne F. Hogan, Dean
Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance
