The Narrator is the City's Talking Statue

Pasquinades

Anthony Di Renzo, Professor of Writing, has published a new book, Pasquinades: Essays from Rome's Famous Talking Statue (Cayuga Lake Books, 2023).

Paperback and Kindle editions are available for order on Amazon.

Pasquinades is an audacious guide to Rome. Pasquino, the city’s witty talking statue, introduces readers to the gallant heroes and grotesque villains, humble peddlers and flamboyant nobles, whores and saints and movie stars who have reigned throughout its turbulent history.

Advanced reviews call the book “a joyride,” “a goldmine of stories,” “a delightful feast,” “a passionate love letter to the Eternal City,” and “a must-read for anyone interested in European culture, Roman history, and writing as smooth as the finest wine.”

The official launch is 3:00 PM Saturday, October 28 in the BorgWarner Community Meeting Room at the Tompkins County Public Library (101 East Green Street, Ithaca, NY 14850). All book sales at this event will benefit the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation.

The Departments of Writing and World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures will host a campus reading at 5:00 PM Thursday, November 30 in Clark Lounge.
