Recent news stories about Artificial Intelligence have heralded the rise of tools such as ChatGPT, Dall-E, and the Bing Chatbot. While many have asserted that their usage will soon prove indispensable in our modern world, urgent ethics issues - including plagiarism, academic misconduct, and data privacy - are now coloring the conversations on these powerful large-language models. This session will evaluate practical and abstract ethical considerations of using generative AI in education, including data privacy, human bias in algorithmic technologies, and the limitations of the technology itself.

AI tools are rapidly reshaping the educational landscape and narrative. Whether or not you currently use AI tools for teaching and research, this session is critical for understanding their abilities, limitations, and considerations.
