Actors Needed for Onstage Jurors in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot

The Ithaca College Theatre spring production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot by Stephen Adly Guirgis seeks 8-10 individuals to serve as an onstage Jury (including alternates) to be an important part of the storytelling.

It’s like being an extra on the set of a movie, or a supernumerary in an opera – you’re focused and onstage the whole time, but there’s no lines to learn! This play is about having faith, seeking redemption, and placing blame, and contains charged language, heightened situations and complex dynamics that challenge the characters’ beliefs, and does not shy away from potentially offending everyone. Satan, Mother Teresa, Sigmund Freud and others are called as witnesses to ascertain Judas’s ultimate fate.

We invite all School of Music, Theatre, and Dance majors and minors, faculty and staff, as well as students across campus who have taken Acting I (or will be enrolled in Acting I) to be considered for this opportunity.  Credit is available through the course Rehearsal & Performance, as this level of engagement meets the threshold for 0-1 credit, at about 45 hours total. Super Jurors are invited to attend additional rehearsals, if they wish to be more engaged in the process, but are expected to be focused on the work at hand. Costumes for each juror will be coordinated by our Costume Designer, from options within each person’s wardrobe, and will be retained during the run of the show. Developing a distinct juror character will be part of a collaborative process, with all ages, genders, ethnicities and backgrounds welcome to participate.

Please indicate your interest in being considered by completing this brief Qualtrics, asking for contact info, any known conflicts with the above dates, what interests you about this opportunity, and uploading a simple photo.

The survey contains the specific rehearsal dates when jurors would be called, as well as the performance schedule.

We will be in contact with potential Super Jurors during the first week of classes, in order to be able to post them as part of our Company List.
