Introducing ALERTUS - Enhancing Our Campus Security and Emergency Preparedness

By Samm Swarts, February 8, 2024

Dear Ithaca College Community,

The safety and well-being of our campus community are of utmost importance. As part of Ithaca College’s ongoing commitment to providing a secure environment, we are excited to introduce the ALERTUS notification system.

ALERTUS is an additional safety measure designed to complement our existing emergency notification system. With these combined tools, we aim to enhance our ability to communicate important information quickly and effectively to all members of our campus community.

Key features of the ALERTUS notification system include:

Multi-Channel Alerts: Receive notifications through a variety of channels, including desktop alerts, emails, text messages, and more. This ensures that you are informed, regardless of your location or the device you are using.

Enhanced Geo-Targeting: ALERTUS allows us to target specific areas on campus with relevant information, providing more localized and tailored alerts to keep you well-informed about incidents that may impact your immediate surroundings.

Integration with RAVE: ALERTUS seamlessly integrates with our existing RAVE notification system, creating a comprehensive and unified approach to emergency communications on campus.

Visual and Audible Alerts: In addition to traditional text-based notifications, ALERTUS can display visual alerts on computer screens and emit audible alarms, increasing the chances of prompt response in emergency situations.

We believe that the combination of RAVE and ALERTUS will further strengthen our ability to keep our campus safe and informed. In the coming months, we will also be announcing additional features that ALERTUS will allow us to utilize to elevate the security and emergency preparedness of our campus. Thank you for your attention to this important information, and please feel free to reach out to me at sswarts@ithaca.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Be well and stay vigilant!

Best regards,

Samm Swarts
