The Ithacan named Best College Newspaper in state by NYPA

For the 22nd straight year, The Ithacan took top honors

The Ithacan, Ithaca College’s award-winning student-run news organization, took first place in the Better College Newspaper competition at the New York Press Association’s Spring 2024 conference Saturday in Saratoga Springs, New York.

This marked the 22nd straight year that The Ithacan was awarded the Best College Newspaper in New York state by NYPA.

The Ithacan won first place for General Excellence, Best Website and Best Sports Coverage.

The Ithacan also took second place in the Design category.

Aidan Charde '23 won first place in the Feature Story category for "Ithaca College athletes get blunt about NCAA marijuana policy." Ray Milburn received honorable mention in the category for "The center at center stage: Football player shares his passion for performance."

Xinyi Qin won first place for Best Photography, and Nolan Saunders placed third in the category.

Caitlin Holtzman '23 took third in the News Story category for "Ithaca College community questions Yellow Deli and Twelve Tribes presence."
